Career Opportunities at Acacia Economics

Acacia Economics is a boutique consultancy that offers expertise in competition, regulatory economics, trade disputes, and damages estimates.

Acacia Economics is a small team, which means that you will gain experience quickly and on a range of different projects and industries. This involves hands-on guidance from senior economists.

Junior Hires

Internships

Internships

Acacia offers short-term internships, including to university students during university holidays. This usually involves an orientation workshop (which involves basic training) and hands-on experience on projects.

Requirements

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (3-year degree) in Economics
Working knowledge of Stata and/or R
Successful applicants would typically need to achieve over 70% for most courses
Honours and/or Master's level courses in Industrial Organisation are desirable

Economic Researchers

Economic Researchers

Economics Masters graduates can apply for economics researcher roles.

Requirements

Minimum of a Master's degree in Economics
Working knowledge of Stata and/or R
Successful applicants would typically need to achieve over 70% for most courses at Honours level and similar at Master's level
Honours and/or Master's level courses in Industrial Organisation are desirable

Writing sample of no more than 2000 words — can be a university essay or thesis extract — that demonstrates writing skills
A brief paragraph of no more than half a page outlining your interest in Acacia, specifically any particular interest in the economics of industrial organisation, competition economics, regulatory economics or consulting, and how it fits with either your past experience or future goals
Please indicate your status in South Africa — such as whether you are a South African citizen, permanent resident, or whether you hold a work permit
